Loss of Privacy with p2p and the Internet
Once files have been made accessible over a peer - to - peer network, those files lose any reasonable expectation of privacy, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma held April 9. United States v. Brese, [WD Okla, 2008]

The defendant moved to suppress evidence seized from his computer, but the court said that law enforcement's use of a peer-to-peer (P2P) service to uncover child pornography stored on the defendant's computer was not an impermissible search under the Fourth Amendment.

"[N]otwithstanding any subjective expectation that Defendant may have had in the privacy of his computer, it was not reasonable for him to expect privacy in files that were accessible to anyone else with [P2P] software and an Internet connection," Judge Timothy D. DeGiusti said.

Be careful with what and how you share information and files.
