Text Message Spamming Illegal in New Jersey
If you have a cell phone, and your cell phone carrier charges you for text messages, the New Jersey Assembly has you in mind. On June 23, the New Jersey Assembly passed A. 1255 prohibiting the transmission of unsolicited text messages.  Violations will be subjet to penalties under the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act, with a $10,000 fine for the first offense, and $20,000 fine for each subsequent offense.

The enxt step is to see if the New Jersey Senate will pass the bill, as they have failed to do in the last two legislative sessions.
