Use of Secured USB Flash Drives...a requirement?
Loss or theft of an unsecured Universal Serial Bus (USB) device can potentially cost a business 65,000 euros (about $109,000) to 1.6 million euros ($2.48 million) per security violation, according to a report released June 19 by the EU Agency for European Network and Information Security (ENISA). Among its recommendations, the agency emphasized the importance of a risk assessment to understand the costs of data leakage and the controls needed to offset the threat. The report said companies should consider authentication and encryption tools. But "the first step is to set clear security policies and make employees aware of them," it said.
